Work with and assist the Childcare Coordinator in the instruction and supervision of assigned children and provide a safe environment that promotes childrens physical social emotional and intellectual development and wellness.
Job Specific Competencies:
Assists in planning and implementing childcare activities and youth programs that enhance childrens development in areas such as art and creativity cognitive language sensory/motor etc.
Under the supervision of the Childcare Coordinator leads activities/projects/schedules for children in childcare such as reservation care parents night out and other scheduled or unscheduled activities.
Supervises trains and mentors other childcare staff. Also provides feedback to ensure comprehensive performance reviews.
Assures staff are following Family Wellness and Childcare Department policies and procedures this is especially true at times the Childcare Coordinator is not present.
Meets and assists childcare staff with any difficult situations issues and parent complaints. Is alert to situations before they become problems.
Applies knowledge of growth and development in customer interactions and adapts care according to childrens age/development stage and works with children two (2) weeks to nine (9) years old.
Performs routine cleaning duties such as washing the play structure tables and chairs sanitizing cribs straightening and organizing rooms and helping change diapers and clothes.
Builds relationships with members and provides observations on individual children for parents at pick up time.
Reports or removes any equipment or materials which may become a safety or health hazard to children.
Provides coverage for department to assure scheduled shifts are adequately filled.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education Experience & Skills (Minimum Requirement):
Applicants must be 15 years of age or older. Previous experience or formal training such as an associate degree in child development or related field is preferred.
Must be able to relate well to children and families be sensitive to their needs and moods and be able to work both as a team member and uphold individual responsibilities.
Licensure/Certification Requirement(s):
CPR/AED and First Aid certification required upon hire or obtained within three (3) months of hire

While performing the duties of this job this employee is frequently required to use fine motor skills to operate a computer keyboard and mouse and must sit stand walk and kneel. Must be able to speak hear and understand the English language. This employee occasionally is required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
