Job Description
Shift: 1st M-F 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (plus OT when necessary)
Pay: $20-24/hr.
Benefits: YES full benefits after 90 days!
What to expect:
We are seeking candidates who have any level of experience as woodworkers hobbyists and others without professional experience are encouraged to apply!
As a woodworker with LJ Smith you will build the skills necessary to transform raw material to meticulously crafted custom products. You will learn to distinguish different woods species and examine them for quality. You will also learn to set up and run equipment like moulders shapers routers table saws jointers and various power hand tools. You will learn various techniques such as bending by lamination making templates repairing imperfections and optimizing material. You will assist others by performing duties of lesser skill such as supplying or holding materials and tools or maintaining work areas and equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
- Is eager to learn the tools and techniques of the woodworking trade.
- Demonstrates a commitment to quality throughout all stages of a project.
- Proactively communicates project status and concerns to management.
- Deciphers plan specifications and knows when to ask for help.
- Supports and promotes a positive working environment.
- Follows health and safety routines.
- Has a high school diploma or GED.
- Is able to lift up to 80 pounds daily.
Basic assembly and fabrication experience is preferred but not required. Cabinet shop or interior finish trim/stair assembly would also be a plus
