Job Summary

The Front Office Enablement Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting investment teams through the development deployment and scaling of high-performance research tools and infrastructure. Situated within the Investments Technology department this role directly impacts quantitative research investment strategy and front-office execution ensuring seamless integration with production systems.

This role requires close collaboration with research analysts portfolio managers traders and technologists to develop and optimize technology solutions that enhance portfolio management research and risk management tools and platforms. These solutions are essential for driving data-driven investment decisions and improving operational efficiency across the front office.

As part of the new Front Office Enablement team the Front Office Enablement Engineer will design and implement resilient scalable platforms that support both investment performance and product development. The role involves working on real-time performance-sensitive systems particularly around valuation risk analysis and optimization. These solutions must be robust trusted and responsive under high-pressure deadlines and stringent regulatory oversight.

The Front Office Enablement Engineer will also ensure that the technology aligns with business objectives driving operational excellence and ensuring regulatory compliance in all systems. The work enables investment professionals to manage portfolios effectively and supports the growth of Assets Under Management (AUM).

**The salary range in MN for this role is $136411 to $184556.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

Engineering & Infrastructure

• Design build and maintain scalable reliable infrastructure to support proprietary research and trading workflows.
• Architect and implement robust software packages and tools used by front-office teams ensuring performance maintainability and compliance.
• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines GitOps workflows and infrastructure-as-code environments (e.g. Terraform YAML).
• Support deployment and lifecycle management of front-end tools (e.g. R Shiny apps) and internal Python/R packages.

Front-Office Collaboration

• Work side-by-side with quants traders and portfolio managers to enable investment models.
• Translate research prototypes into production-ready tools ensuring alignment with investment objectives and technical standards.
• Act as a thought partner to front office professionals on technical architecture data strategy and tool design.

Data & Model Enablement

• Work with other technologists and data engineers to build and maintain data pipelines for large-scale datasets beyond standard vendor integrations.
• Enable model development through tooling that supports machine learning optimization and statistical analysis.
• Ensure data integrity traceability and performance across research and production environments.

Application Lifecycle Support

• Provide support for critical production systems.
• Collaborate with other engineers and architects to ensure seamless integration with enterprise systems and compliance with IT general controls.

Job Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering Applied Math or a related technical field.
• 5 years of experience in software engineering or data engineering preferably in a front-office or quantitative environment.
• Experience in programming languages such as C# or Java.
• Proficiency in SQL Python and /or R and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI).
• Strong understanding of machine learning optimization and statistical computing.
• Experience with DevOps GitOps and CI/CD practices for building and distributing reliable software.
• Familiarity with data engineering concepts including large-scale data pipelines orchestration and reconciliation.
• Deep quantitative and technical expertise strong collaboration skills and a practical understanding of front office workflows in a dynamic trading environment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a cross functional team iterating on solutions while providing support for production systems.
• Demonstrated critical thinking abilities to assess application system and design changes.
• Successful track record of making impactful decisions to evaluate business and technical environments and develop technical solutions.
• Familiarity with general IT controls and regulatory requirements for system design and implementation.

Preferred:

• Masters degree or advanced coursework in quantitative finance engineering or data science.
• Experience working in asset management hedge funds or trading environments.
• Familiarity with financial instruments portfolio analytics and investment workflows.
• Exposure to R Shiny cloud platforms (e.g. Azure AWS) and containerization (e.g. Docker Kubernetes).
• Proven experience advocating for IT general controls change management and secure coding practices with front office stakeholders.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
