How will you make an impact
The Sr. NPI Mechanical Engineer is a key member of the NPI Technical Sourcing Engineering (TSE) team responsible for aligning sourcing strategies with product development and engineering goals. They will drive engineering support on new product lines through risk mitigation efforts cost savings initiatives product scale-up resolving quality issues supplier development and supplier consolidation.
What will you do
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams including R&D Manufacturing and Procurement teams to align plastic component design with supplier capabilities ensuring manufacturability and scalability.
- Champion Design for Excellence (DfX) & Value Engineering (VE) principles particularly for injection-molded machined and 3D printed plastic parts focusing on cost quality manufacturability and sustainability.
- Develop strong relationships with the Engineering Technology and R&D community as well as with the category teams manufacturing facilities and management.
- Coordinate the development of Should Cost models for new products.
- Collaborate with the Procurement team to negotiate supplier agreements that meet cost and technical objectives.
- Collaborate with category management and COE offshore teams to ensure sourcing decisions and actions align with the program plan and are efficient.
- Travel will be up to 20% global.

EDUCATION
Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical Engineering with a strong focus or coursework in Polymer Engineering Plastics Technology or Materials Science.
EXPERIENCE
- BS with8 years experience or MS with 6 years experience: hands on R&D manufacturing product design and cost engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in injection molding tooling design plastic part design for manufacturability and cost engineering.
- Strong project management skills.
- Expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DfM) Design for Cost (DfC) and other DfX fields.
- Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks Pro/e or an equivalent CAD software.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite particularly Excel and presentation software.
- Strong understanding of new product introduction processes.
- Medical device experience preferred.
