We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Medical SupportAssistants (MSA) to join our team at the Sheridan VA Medical Center.

Position Overview

The Medical Support Assistant (MSA) provides criticaladministrative and scheduling support to ensure Veterans receive timelycoordinated and high-quality care. This role requires professionalismaccuracy and excellent customer service skills while representing bothVeterans Engineering and the VA in a positive and proactive manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule patient appointments follow-ups and communications.
  • Work closely with the Lead Scheduler and scheduling/reception team to ensure efficiency and compliance with VA standards.
  • Process referrals and coordinate Veteran care with community providers when VA services are unavailable or delayed.
  • Enter and validate patient demographic information in VA systems (CPRS VISTA HSRM PPMS).
  • Handle incoming phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding scheduling and services in a courteous timely manner.
  • Assist in integrating health and administrative records into the VAs electronic medical record systems.
  • Provide daily administrative support using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook Teams).
  • Deliver professional respectful and patient-centered customer service to Veterans their families and VA staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Veteran care and VA operations.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen/resident.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proficiency in English (oral and written).
  • Ability to type at least 50 words per minute.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).
  • Minimum 6 months of customer service experience.
  • Must meet health background and security requirements as outlined by the VA.

Additional Information

  • This is a contracted position through Veterans Engineering in support of the VA. Selected candidates are not considered VA employees.
  • Travel may be required for fingerprinting PIV card pick-up and IT equipment.
