AURA is seeking a Human Resources Business Operations Specialist to oversee and coordinate HR business processes in Chile. This fully on-site position is based in La Serena and will support HR operations across multiple facilities. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of Chilean labor law excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage complex HR processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer employment contracts for Chilean local hires and expatriates.
- Ensure compliance with Chilean labor laws and internal HR policies.
- Supervise and guide HR Assistants/Coordinators to ensure high-quality administrative support.
- Act as the main HR contact in Chile for internal stakeholders and interdepartmental projects.
- Support recruitment compensation benefits payroll coordination and HR systems.
- Lead the development and implementation of process improvements and system enhancements.
- Oversee immigration processes for expatriates including compliance and visa tracking.
- Monitor and report on HR metrics; ensure data accuracy in HRIS platforms (UKG WinPer GeoVictoria Buk).
- Coordinate internal audits and financial compliance efforts related to HR.
- Prepare and manage the HR departments budget in collaboration with HR leadership.
Required Education:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field.
- Certification such as PHR PMP SHRM-CP or a recognized Chilean equivalent.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in business operations including 2 years in HR roles.
- Proven supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of Chilean labor regulations.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems (e.g. UKG WinPer GeoVictoria).
- Exceptional judgment attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual fluency in English (CEFR Level C2 or higher) with strong cross-cultural communication abilities
- Knowledge of office management and organizational principles.
- Experience in international work environments or scientific institutions.
Physical & Work Conditions
- Primarily office-based with frequent sitting and occasional standing/walking
- Must be able to lift up to 4.5 kg regularly and up to 11.3 kg occasionally
- Requires close vision depth perception and manual dexterity for office equipment
- Capable of reading hearing and effectively communicating instructions
- Occasional work may be conducted at altitudes up to 2700 meters
- Domestic and international travel may be required.
