Instructional Science Laboratory Assistant Mercy College

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Instructional Science Laboratory Supervisor assists with the planning organization and direction of the operation of multiple instructional Science laboratories for Mercy College of Ohio; ensures science labs operate efficiently effectively and safely; assists with training supervising and coordinating science faculty students and student workers in the science laboratories. Performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Assists with planning organizing and directing the operations of instructional science laboratories.
• Works with the Chemical Hygiene Officer to maintain knowledge of and ensures compliance with federal and state regulatory safety and health standards.
• Assists with development implementation and oversight of work/lab protocols to ensure a safe and effective work and learning environment in support of student learning objectives.
• Assists with monitoring and maintaining budgets for the operation of multiple laboratories and may assist in ordering receiving and issuing supplies.
• Assists with maintaining the inventory of equipment and expendable supplies for multiple laboratories. Provides access to Safety Data Sheets. Maintains specimens as needed using appropriate techniques.
• Oversees preparation of material for assigned laboratory sessions in concert with the faculty. Assists faculty to ensure syllabus and schedule coordination of activities.
• Assists with maintenance for laboratory and assists supervisor in ordering replacement components as needed for all lab related equipment.
• May supervise the performance of student laboratory assistants and laboratory technicians.

Bachelors in Biology or Chemistry

Experience working in a sciense laboratory
