JOCKEY CLUB CREATIVE HUB

The Jockey Club Campus of Creativity (JC3) Creative Hub is a creative venture dedicated to fostering creativity and innovation within both the university and the wider community. We emphasise industry-higher education collaboration and cross-disciplinary partnerships leveraging the potential of music-tech EdTech art-tech tech-transfer and interdisciplinary learning. With a strong emphasis on cross-cultural studies and research in creativity and pedagogy the Creative Hub is at the forefront of enhancing educational experiences and cultivating a vibrant creative ecosystem in Hong Kong.

Recording and Technical Director (Creative Hub) ()

The University is inviting applications for this senior position to focus on the high-level strategic and operation aspect of the studio complex for the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity (JC3) project.

Responsibilities:

  • Align the studios technical capabilities with academic and strategic goals;
  • Setting the technical direction for the studio complex ensuring that it stays at the forefront of recording and production technology trends;
  • Set and maintain technical standards and policies for high-quality output and efficient operation;
  • Oversee technical budgets including equipment purchases maintenance and upgrades;
  • Lead and mentor technical staff ensuring professional development;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with equipment vendors industry experts and professional bodies to ensure the studio benefits from the latest insights and advancements;
  • Lead cross-functional projects and collaborations;
  • Provide comprehensive reports and analyses on technical operations;
  • Utilise signal processing tools and advanced recording techniques including set up mix and master recordings; and
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A bachelors degree or above in related field such as audio engineering mastering recording/mixing engineering;
  • Extensive experiences in technical management within a studio environment including a proven track record in leading technical teams and managing large-scale projects;
  • In-depth knowledge of current and emerging studio technologies includinghigh-end recording studio equipment such as SSL and Neve consoles Avid HDX Systems and various outboard gear;
  • Proficiency in Protools Logic Pro Max Unreal Engine Touch Designer and Dolby Atmos Studio setups including Avid DAW consoles and Barco projectors;
  • Proven ability to lead teams manage budgets and make strategic decisions;
  • Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders; and
  • Demonstrated ability to stay updated on the latest audio technology and industry trends.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test/presentation.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
