THE CHINESEMEDICINEHOSPITAL OF HONG KONG

The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) is a flagship Chinese medicine (CM) institution leading the development of CM including Chinese medicines (CMs) in Hong Kong. The CMHHK adopts a public-private partnership model. The HKSAR Government has financed the construction and selected the Hong Kong Baptist University as the contractor to incorporate the HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited as the operator to manage operate and maintain the CMHHK.

The CMHHK is targeted to commence hospital services by phases at the end of 2025. The CMHHK aims to offer comprehensive CM care ranging from primary secondary to tertiary services and promote advanced and specialised CM services. The CMHHK will pioneer integrated Chinese-western medicine (ICWM) services to cater to different patient needs. Inpatient day-patient and outpatient treatments and also community services will be offered by the CMHHK. Both Government-subsidised services and add-on market-oriented services will be provided to ensure accessibility and to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community.

With a view to prioritising education training innovation and research including collaboration with local and overseas universities to advance evidence-based clinical research and develop CM theories and clinical applications the CMHHK is now looking for the following talent to join our team.

The CMHHK planning comes to commission stage II (Jan 2024 - Dec 2025). During this stage the CM Division in CMHHK starts to design the details of protocols for its clinical service training research and public promotion. The CM Division requires the following positions in commission stage II to support the evidence-based protocol drafting in the area of CM ICWM services training and research; to support the IT and application designs related to operations; and to coordinate the promotional campaign so as to increase public awareness of the missions of CMHHK and spread the CM culture in the community.

Consultant Chinese Medicine Practitioner (CCMP)/ Senior Chinese Medicine Practitioner (SCMP) ()

Responsibilities:

Report to the Hospital Chief Executive (HCE) and the Deputy Hospital Chief Executive (Chinese Medicine) (DHCE(CM)) and be responsible for the following duties:

• Coordinate the establishment of the following CM Department respectively including:
  1. Internal Medicine in CM ()
  2. External Medicine in CM ()
  3. Gynecology in CM ()
  4. Paediatrics in CM ()
  5. Orthopedics and Traumatology in CM ()
  6. Acupuncture and Moxibustion in CM ()
• Coordinate and design the clinical guidelines of the special diseases programme using evidence-based approaches;
• Coordinate and design the Service Standard Operation Procedure in the CM Department;
• Coordinate and design the Training protocol and establishing the training center;
• Coordinate the design of the Research protocol and management of research ethical guidelines;
• Assist CM-division related Procurement specification design and clarification;
• Coordinate and handle IT-related procedures and system design;
• Design organise and coordinate CM promotional campaign in the community to promote the concept of CMHHK; and
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the HCE and DHCE(CM).

Requirements:

Consultant Chinese Medicine Practitioner (CCMP)

• CMP registeredwith the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong;
• 15 years or more post-registration experience as a CMP;
• Able to demonstrate excellent CM theoretical knowledge and CM clinical research and teaching abilities;
• Possess at least a masters degree with doctoral degree preferable in CM or relevant disciplines;
• Passionate in contributing the establishment of CMHHK;
• Meticulousness excellent communication analytical and problem-solving skills and a strong sense of responsibility;
• Self-motivation with the ability to work independently as well as with a team;
• An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel and PowerPoint) SPSS and Chinese word processing.

Senior Chinese Medicine Practitioner (SCMP)

• CMP registeredwith the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong;
• 10 years or more post-registration experience as a CMP;
• Able to demonstrate excellent CM theoretical knowledge and CM clinical research and teaching abilities;
• Possess at least a masters degree with doctoral degree preferable in CM or relevant disciplines;
• Passionate in contributing the establishment of CMHHK;
• Meticulousness excellent communication analytical and problem-solving skills and a strong sense of responsibility;
• Self-motivation with the ability to work independently as well as with a team;
• An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel and PowerPoint) SPSS and Chinese word processing.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract by Hong Kong Baptist University. Following the commencement of CMH and subject to the candidates satisfactory performance and the decision of CMH subsequent appointment will be offered directly by CMH.

Work location:Kowloon Tong Campus and will be moved to The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong in Tseung Kwan O when close to commissioning.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications experience and skills.
