Radio-Canada Estrie is looking for two (2) National Lineup Editors to oversee prepare and present theTljournal Estrie.
You will plan the work of journalists in collaboration with other editors. You will supervise reporters in the field. You will prepare the content of the newscasts and present them on air ensuring they respect the mandate of Tljournal Estrie as well as Radio-Canadas journalistic standards and practices.
You will conduct interviews in the studio or on location. You may also be asked to prepare your own stories for the Tljournal radio and digital platforms. You will contribute to showcasing regional content produced in your area.
There are two (2) positions available: one (1) full-time permanent role and one (1) one-year replacement from January 1 to December 31 2026.
Typical work assignments are Monday to Thursday or Thursday to Sunday. However schedules may change depending on work organization editorial requirements and operational needs.
You will report to Charles Beaudoin Senior Manager Journalism and Programming Radio-Canada Estrie.
Responsibilities:
Monitor regional national and international news from various sources.
Research gather analyze verify and select news stories and items for newscasts. Identify sources and fact-check.
Collaborate with web/radio desks to plan daily upcoming and special event coverage. Propose topics and discuss story angles with colleagues. Develop the rundown of newscasts.
Maintain a network of contacts.
Assign reporters and act as assignment editor to respond to requests from the network.
Select video clips and adapt their content or news reports into various formats for newscasts.
Monitor the evolution of stories based on deadlines and adjust newscasts accordingly.
Review and if necessary correct journalists work before reports go to air.
Vet reports with journalists prior to broadcast. Request changes if needed.
Define the editorial angle of stories. Write scripts headlines and lead-ins. Prepare live hits with reporters in the field.
After broadcast follow up with journalists and management. Review the newscast if necessary.
Contribute when required to the evaluation of journalists work and the assessment of newscasts or digital publications.
Conduct interviews and produce reports to be broadcast on Tljournal radio or digital platforms.
Perform journalistic duties when required.
Carry out any other related tasks necessary to fulfill the above responsibilities.
Your profile:
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent
Seven (7) years of experience in journalism
Skills:
Extensive general knowledge and superior analytical skills
Confident positive leadership
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work under pressure
In-depth knowledge of regional national and international news
Solid command of French
Advanced oral intermediate writing and advanced reading skills in English (an asset)
Curiosity and ability to find story ideas and interview subjects
Demonstrated experience of at least three (3) years with television-specific writing techniques
Thorough knowledge of newsroom logistics
Knowledge of production techniques
Understanding of multiplatform production (television radio web)
Up-to-date network of contacts
Excellent knowledge and understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada journalistic standards and practices
