We are seeking a talented individual to join our Actuarial Valuations team at Mercer. This role will be based in Lisbon. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As an actuary you will be an integral part of an exciting project where we support our Irish Wealth business.

You will be working together with experienced analysts and project managers in all aspects of the Pension Plans & Retirement area. Apart from the team based in Portugal you will also work directly and in a daily basis with the Ireland-based consultants and clients.

We will count on you to:

  • Work as part of a team supporting consultants and clients in all aspects of pensions accounting and actuarial work;
  • Request gather review and upload client data and assist in the preparation of actuarial valuations participant statements and/or client listings;
  • Reconcile data and assets from previous valuations and prepare summaries of data assets and benefits defined in the plan documentation;
  • Perform required financial analyses using proprietary and vended software;
  • Calculate and analyze special retirement projects;
  • Report production;
  • Support your client team on project management possible client contact problem resolution and supervision of analysts work;
  • Act as a key point of contact for technical and scheme-specific queries received from clients third parties and other Mercer businesses;
  • Ensure projects are delivered on-time and to the high standards required.

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor/ Masters degree in math actuarial science statistics economics finance or related field;
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills (C1/C2);
  • Attention to detail is critical;
  • Strong problem solving skills & ability to clearly articulate complex issues;
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills in order to prioritize and effectively manage a wide variety of ongoing tasks;
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (in particular a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel Word and PowerPoint).
