Te Whiwhinga mahi The opportunity
Youth Clinicians are a part of the Community Youth Mental Health Service shared byPurapura Whet Trust Stepping Stones and Odyssey House and is a part of the YAMHA Alliance. The service provides short-term clinical counselling supportwhich includes assessment treatment and support. As a Youth Clinician you will be part of a passionate team who work alongside young people (13-24 years) that are struggling with mild to moderate mental health and alcohol and other issues. You will support the implementation of plans goals and outcomes to ensure that the needs of our youth and their whnau are met.

We are looking for dynamic Clinicians committed to reducing the impact of alcohol and other drug-related harm in the community faced by Rangatahi.

The role requires working with rangatahi whnau and their wider support networks to develop initiatives focusing on strengths and processes that are engaging and inclusive. Addressing individual challenges identifying needs and working with whnau to develop strategies to achieve realistic outcomes.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and professional registration.
  • Experience in counselling and group work.
  • Recent experience working with people with mental health and addiction challenges.
  • Relevant knowledge of and experience working with Rangatahiand their families / whnau.
  • Proven skills in clinical assessment treatment planning and intervention.
  • The ability to work both independently and team environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with whnau and the community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Full NZ Drivers licence with clean Police Check.

We are interested in kaimahi who can deliver the following key tasks in novel ways that reflect rangatahi culture and needs.

  1. Integrate treatment for co-existing problems that engages Rangatahi whaiora
  2. Develop shared care plans with Rangatahi and their whanau.
  3. Develop pathways to support integrated approaches across services.
  4. Develop specialist co-existing problem groups and other types of service that respond to rangatahi needs and aspirations.
