Certified Surgical First Assistant - THPG

THPG is looking for a skilled SFA to support the Orthopedic Surgeon Subspecialist: Joint Replacement Foot & Angle Hand & Sports Medicine

Work location: Texas Health Physicians Group 902 W Randol Mill Rd Arlington TX 76012

Work hours: Full-time 40 hours weekly Monday - Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm

What You Will Do:

Assists the surgeon during surgical procedures i.e. passes sterile supplies and equipment holds retractor devices anticipates and responds to the surgical team needs ties off vessels and tissues repairs incisions and lacerations cuts and cauterizes tissues stabilizes drains applies wound dressings etc as needed and as directed. Performs complex surgical techniques as needed and as directed by physician and in accordance with Texas scope of practice for surgical first assistants 40%
Assists in the preparation of the operating room according to procedure schedules and arranges sterile setups of instrument table supplies and equipment required. Coordinates with surgeons on specialty equipment and supply needs prior to procedure.

Monitors patients vital signs including heart rate respiration and pulse alerting the physician if there are complications which need to be addressed. 15%
Evaluate the patients condition following the procedure to determine appropriate time for transport to the recovery room. 15%
Assists the physician with rounds for all inpatients performing dressing changes and evaluation and removal of sutures and staples. 10%
Participates in special projects and/or performs other duties as assigned. 5%

What You Need:

Education
H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Req And
Other Completion of a Surgical Technician Program Req

Experience
2 Years Relevant work experience. Req

1 Year of Orthopedics experience. Pref

Licenses and Certifications
CSFA - Certified Surgical First Asst Upon Hire Req
