Job Summary:

The Legal Services Manager is responsible for drafting negotiation and management of the contracts across the organization. This role ensures that agreements comply with legal requirements organizational policies and risk management standards. The manager collaborates closely with internal departments external partners and legal counsel to support business operations through timely and accurate contract development. The position also is responsible for all of the contractual technology related tools and ensuring that the legal teams deadlines calendar project management tools and technology needs are met and operationalized on a daily basis.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Review draft negotiate and finalize routine contractual agreements. This includes: (1) Vendor Agreements (2) Grants and (3) Memorandums of Understanding. Provides technical expertise to management and staff at CFP regarding agreements and contracts to ensure efficient contracting. Maintains an understanding of the organizations contract templates contracts policy legal risk and liability and company policy on various legal matters. Serve as a primary point person for user questions and issues related to contract management system and contracting requirements. Screens and first line of support for all contracted related issues. Responds directly to administrative contractual requests.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for fielding general questions to the legal department and directs inquires to the appropriate staff member as necessary. Inquiries include general legal questions regarding contracts private foundation matters risk records and compliance and general legal processes.
  • Assists with preparing and delivering presentation and training materials tools and materials for Casey staff and other documents.
  • Provides support for the entire legal team to include tools and process improvements that enhance efficiency and management of the legal work for the organization. Centrally track incoming work and provide project management for appropriate team members to respond and monitor. Centrally provide workflow management to the legal department. Provide technical support and project management support to all areas of the legal department.
  • Prepare regular weekly monthly and quarterly reports or ad hoc reports as requested by counsel.
  • Assists with updating legal department policies and procedures and any other documents needed for internal and external use.
  • Monitors and manages intellectual property including: copyright and trademark registrations and renewals licensing of Casey materials to 3rd parties publicity releases requests for permission to use 3rd party materials and standardizing copyright notices & acknowledgements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree required with a minimum of five years experience as a contracts and/or transactions specialist in a large law firm in-house experience or both. JD or some legal coursework or experience preferred.
  • Strong legal drafting skills a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple contract workflows while improving processes and maintaining compliance.
  • Must be able to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment communicate clearly and effectively manage high volumes of tasks and projects with little guidance react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround take effective action without knowing the whole picture think creatively exercise strong judgment and be proactive in solving problems that affect customers.
  • Customer-service oriented and have great attention to detail while still meeting tight deadlines strong organizational skills and the ability to easily switch gears. A high level of professionalism integrity and discretion in handling confidential information as well as the ability to work well with people at all levels inside and outside the foundation are essential.
  • Knowledge of and responsible experience with collaborations agreements and partnerships is needed. Knowledge about competence in and familiarity with the infrastructures of child and family serving systems and legal and tax requirements related to nonprofits is highly desired. Ability to uphold strict standards of complete discretion and confidentiality.
  • Organizational ability analytical strategic thinking and significant business acumen; clear and concise oral and written communication skills; avid attention to detail; as well as the ability to identify and resolve issues proactively creatively and expeditiously.
  • To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to collaborate effectively with a team of professionals internal and external to CFP. Presentation skills required and ability to address small or larger groups with confidence and accuracy in information presented.
  • High Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office including familiarity with MS SharePoint Excel Agiloft (preferred) and other legal management tools is required for the job. High proficiency with Microsoft Word is required for the job.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Solid knowledge of software applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as a member of the team.
  • Ability to protect the confidentiality of sensitive information by learning and following all relevant policies and protocols and using sound judgment in the handling and sharing of that information.
  • Local travel as well as occasional out of town travel may be required. Driving on Casey business may require use of personal vehicle; adherence to vehicle safety guidelines and qualification for insurance is require.

The salary range for the role is $80325 to $108675. As a mission-driven organization Casey strives to balance competitive pay with our mission. New hires salaries are typically between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint of $94500. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidates job-related skills experience and expertise as evaluated during the interview process.

Casey Family Programs offers comprehensive benefits including medical dental and vision coverage accrual of 12 days of annual leave 12 days of sick leave10 paid holidays per year and each employee receives one personal holiday to use each calendar year. Employees that meet certain tenure qualifiers are eligible for up to eight weeks of parental leave for the birth or placement of a child for adoption or foster care. After the completion of 10 years of continuous full-time regular employment employees in good standing are permitted for a three-month sabbatical with pay. CFP also offers many opportunities for continued learning training and development.
