Job Description:
- Automotive facilities engineering experience is highly preferable with preference towards high volume assembly operations. Experience with Japanese transplants will be highly beneficial.
- CAD skills are preferred AutoCad at a minimum. AutoCad will be routinely required to edit and develop 2D Cad layouts.
- The candidate must be proficient in the comprehension of building blueprints Mechanical & HVAC drawings plumbing and electrical layouts.
- Experience in developing plans for infrastructure including traffic routes utilities and stormwater management systems.
- The candidate ideally has experience developing greenfield and brownfield sites and possesses experience in navigating and obtaining permits coordinating with contractors and ensuring the project meets safety and environmental regulations.
- Must possess an acute awareness of commercial facility life safety systems along with their implementation and operation.
- The candidate should be driven to integrating sustainable design principles such as high efficiency HVAC systems and other energy conserving site initiatives.
- Needs to demonstrate an aptitude toward structural engineering requirements and be able to communicate fluently with structural consultants.
- Must have experience implementing commercial facility security and IT systems.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects on a simultaneous basis.
- Exceptional demonstration of time and project management skills is a must.
- Must be comfortable in developing and communicating project schedules through tools such as Microsoft excel or Microsoft Project or similar.
- The candidate must have an innate ability to develop detailed scope of work (SOW) along with a capability to issue project specifications to obtain vendor quotes.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong budget management skills along with exceptional organization and tracking of purchase orders and invoicing.
- Strong troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and time management skills will be essential in this position. Ability to interface at multiple levels and operate within cross-functional teams is critical.
- The candidate will have experience managing multi discipline contractors on site ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to give clear presentations of technical data at the executive stakeholder level will be a pre-requisite.
High level daily Job responsibilities:
- Reports to the Sr. Department Head of Production Engineering & Maintenance
- Maintain a safe work environment follow all established safety policies & procedures & report all safety related issues to a member of Management.
- This is a hands-on-position involved in ongoing production floor activities.
- Will require coordination of small-scale equipment type moves and installations all the way up to large scale ground-up commercial building developments.
- Handle all phases of several concurrent projects from concept through implementation and beyond
- Create and deliver effective presentations regarding recommended solutions and alternatives for assigned initiatives.
- Discuss with vendors staff and management personnel regarding purchases procedures product specifications and project status.
- Support departmental business plan objectives.
- Support department 5S activities.
Minimum Education requirements:
- Four-year engineering degree (civil or industrial) or 10 years related work experience.
