Job Summary

The purpose of this role is to (1) manage ConocoPhillips Well Design & Delivery Process (WDDP) for optimal well design provide cost and planning data for KBBC PSC supporting ConocoPhillips development plans and WPB submissions (2) lead the preparation and execution of KBB infill drilling campaign and future drilling programs front end planning include resourcing of the Wells team securing budgets ordering the required materials and services and support the contracting process and (3) stewarding safe production of existing KBB wells through well integrity management.

Position Overview

Primary Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure implementation of ConocoPhillips HSE management systems policies procedures plans and training to support the planning and execution of all drilling operations striving to achieve an incident free workplace.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and ConocoPhillips policies standards and procedures to prevent non-compliance non-cost recovery and preventing well failure.

  • Accountable for the overall integrity of KBB production wells by ensuring planned Preventative Maintenance and required Corrective Maintenance are performed to company standards. Provide technical oversight and assurance on well integrity management.

  • Manage well design planning and execution processes to deliver exploration appraisal and development wells within the KBB cluster in a safe and cost-effective manner.

  • Accountable for well designs AFEs programs for drilling completions and well intervention

  • Responsible for providing Wells cost estimates and schedule information in support of internal planning and annual WPB submissions

  • Develop and maintain Wells project risk and opportunity register. Ensure adequate implementation of risk management and change processes to prevent failure or cost/schedule overruns.

  • Provide functional direction in the development of the overall Wells contracting strategy for all goods and services that are required to execute planned well activities (i.e. drilling completion and/or intervention)

  • Effective management of the rig and third-party service contracts with specific focus on safety and performance.

  • Ensure an oil spill contingency plan resource containment plan and offshore ERP for COP Malaysia are in place for drilling/completion/intervention activities.

  • Ensure COP Marine vetting process is applied to all offshore vessels including offshore drilling rig.

  • Utilize structured WDDP and initiate critical well reviews as required.

  • Provide accurate and timely updates to Wells related scopes within ARPR ADP FDPs and Abandonment Plan.

  • Provide strong leadership to the Wells team and ensure it is adequately resourced to deliver the plan. Manage staff development plans including required training and certifications

  • Manage communications with internal and external stakeholders including MPM as regulator and shareholders through the Technical Committee Meetings and Well Review Board. Ensure all required approvals are obtained prior to drilling campaign(s).

  • Foster strong collaboration within ConocoPhillips departments notably HSSE Subsurface Engineering Production Operations and Finance to support effective and safe execution of drilling campaign(s)

  • Maintain regular communication with GM Global Wells Global Wells Chiefs and SMEs.

  • Act as an ambassador for ConocoPhillips in Malaysia.

HSE Roles:

  • Comply with HSE policies Life Saving Rules procedures goals and programs within the MBU HSE Management System.

  • Actively engage in and contribute to HSE communication and consultation processes.

  • Actively participate in HSE initiatives and programs that include but not limited to Safety Observations and HSE Trainings.

  • Support company sustainability development (SD) initiatives and other environmental policies and practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering.

  • At least 15 years of direct experience in well operations including international operations.

  • Managed/experienced with offshore drilling completion and intervention operations (ideally simultaneous well operations/production operations environments)

  • Proven strong HSE commitment and management performance

  • Proven history of working well in a developing nation multi-cultural environment.

  • Previous experience supporting cost tracking budgeting and general administrative functions including HR (Career Job Performance Appraisals and Goal Setting).

  • Previous experience managing teams of individual contributors and engineers drilling superintendents and rig supervisors.

  • Previous experience in remote startup and offshore exploration & development operations.

  • Experience with contract development negotiation and tendering.

  • Self-motivated positive attitude and work with minimal direction.

  • Strong communication teamwork and problem-solving skills.

  • Organized and able to handle multiple tasks while responding to critical needs with imminent deadlines.
