TITLE: Maintenance I - Outdoor
Hours/Days: 8 hrs/day -Monday through Friday

REPORTS TO: Facilities Supervisor and/or Chief Operations Officer
PURPOSE
Perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in maintenance grounds landscaping custodial construction and repair of building and equipment. Assist other maintenance personnel in completion of work orders and assignments. Maintain the school facilities and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives supervision from Facilities Supervisor and may receive guidance and direction from building Administrator or Maintenance II or Maintenance III. Exercises no supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform successfully in this position an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- One to three years of satisfactory employment in general maintenance landscaping and/or related skilled trade
- One year experience in general construction and/or maintenance work involving operating of light trucks or other landscape maintenance equipment
- Knowledge of basic operations of hand and power tools and terms used in building maintenance repair and construction
- Knowledge of proper maintenance of grass turf and athletic fields
- Knowledge of proper maintenance of artificial turf and athletic fields
- Knowledge of operation and maintenance of irrigation systems
- Possess a valid Oregon drivers license and an excellent driving record
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Ability to use materials and equipment with skill and efficiency
- Knowledge and ability to locate and read MSD sheets within buildings
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in performance of duties
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written communication
- Ability to work harmoniously and communicate with students parents and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform general maintenance of grounds including mowing edging over-seeding weeding and athletic field preparation
- Program adjust maintain and repair irrigation system
- Perform grounds and parking lot rubbish clean up
- Perform maintenance and repair of general equipment and maintenance equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks
- Have knowledge to operate all appropriate equipment machines and power tools with skill and efficiency.
- Maintain professional competence and gain knowledge of maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment through staff development activities and workshops
- Participate in district related meetings when requested
- Use appropriate equipment and safety precautions to complete tasks and follow District and OSHA regulations and guidelines
- Assist in establishing and maintaining an orderly and supportive environment for staff and students
- Report safety sanitary and fire hazards
OUTDOOR MAINTENANCE TASKS
- Clear walkways of debris (blowing and/or power washing)
- Trim trees and bushes as needed
- Prepare grass athletic fields for play (mowing edging dragging lining)
- Maintain and sanitize artificial turf athletic fields
- Outdoor equipment and facility repair
- Fertilization and others tasks related to turf management
- Maintain and repair irrigation systems
- Maintain internal courtyards at all district facilities
- Pickup and empty garbages at outdoor district facilities
- Maintain and repair all district outdoor facilities
- Other duties as assigned

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Sherwood School District 88J and Oregon School Employees Association Chapter #103.
