Job Description
Description/Job Summary
SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION
Schedule: Various Shifts 7:00a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
Job Summary: Assure that Quality Control procedures are properly followed. Conduct sampling and testing on both in-process and finished product. Prepare shipping documents and assists the QA supervisor.
Basic Qualifications:
- Follow all food safety legal quality process control policies and regulations.
- Help organize and get samples ready to be shipped to outside labs and/or customers (i.e. sample submission forms)
- Make sure all GMPs policies are being followed and enforced.
- Conduct sampling and normal daily testing on in-process and finished product (i.e. granulation moisture density). Also perform more detailed testing of samples (gluten mycotoxins and GMO)
- Assist QA Supervisor and QA Techs when needed.
- Must be able to work any shift as this position is the back up for QA techs and/or QA Assistants when they are on vacation or calling in.
- Review and verify HACCP forms daily with the guidance of the QA supervisor.
- Conduct and maintain Sponge swabbing tracking log with the assistance of the QA supervisor.
- Fulfill and maintain customer sample request on Sales Order System.
- Trains new employees for QA Tech and QA Assistant positions.
- Any other duties assigned by the QA Supervisor and QA Manager.
Education & Experience (Minimum Preferred):
Associate degree in general sciences preferred; one-year experience in a Quality Control position in a modern food production facility may substitute.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities (Desired):
Must communicate well verbally and in writing in English to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Able to make mathematical calculations involving fractions and decimal conversions. Able to make independent judgments based on written standards and customer requirements. Intermediate Microsoft Office suite skills. Familiar with basic laboratory procedures. Be detailed oriented and organized.
Physical Demands (Typical):
Climb ladders work on various plant levels and stand on concrete floors for extended periods. Able to work extended shifts as needed. Required to enter data in computer and to read small print. Able to occasionally lift 50 pounds. Able to wear required PPE.
Work Environment (Typical):
Inside and outside plant environment; some inside office work. Exposed to moving lift equipment extreme temperatures and moving machinery.
