We are partnering with some of the worlds biggest QSR brands to deliver innovative solutions that transform how they do business. To help us deliver on our vision we are looking for a Tech Lead Senior Engineer to join our team.

About the role

We are searching for an experienced tech lead with general platform engineering experience and experience in computer vision who feels comfortable working on hybrid environments (cloud and on-premise) and has an automation mindset to lead our dynamic Vision team at Fingermark helping to shape the future of our cutting-edge Eyecue product.

As the Technical Lead of our elite Vision team youll become a driving force behind Fingermarks ground-breaking computer vision platform. Youll empower our development teams with your expertise shaping the future of our industry-leading Eyecue product.

Push the boundaries of whats possible as you operationalise computer vision and machine learning at a massive scale. Build the infrastructure to seamlessly deploy across a dynamic landscape of cloud edge and extreme edge devices.

Youll also be managing a team of engineers focussed on our computer vision software helping mentor them to grow and shape their careers with assistance from other managers in the team.

We are open to candidates who would like to either work in office here in Hawkes Bay or work remotely. Our work hours are aligned with NZ work days and hours.

About you



We appreciate candidates who wont have all the skills and that is OK. Hopefully you will align with much of the following:

  • Software engineering background with a strong proficiency in Python along with libraries such as OpenCV PyTorch/TensorFlow NumPy or scikit-image
  • Experience with Computer Vision techniques (e.g. feature detection multi-view geometry) and deep learning-based methods (CNNs object detection segmentation)
  • Solid experience with Kubernetes Docker and Helm for deploying microservices
  • Experience with model deployment using tools such as NVIDIA Triton ONNX TensorRT etc
  • An understanding of ML lifecycle: Data collection labeling augmentation training validation and continuous evaluation Familiarity with AWS services particularly S3 EC2 IoT Core and EKS Monitoring and logging with Prometheus Grafana ELK or similar stacks
  • Designing scalable data pipelines and APIs for video image or sensor data
  • Understanding of CI/CD workflows (Bitbucket Pipelines GitHub Actions etc)
  • Experience with MongoDB Redis or RabbitMQ in distributed systems
  • Proven team leadership experience managing engineers setting goals conducting code reviews mentoring junior members of the team
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams: product managers backend/frontend developers ops
  • Experience running scrum/agile processes sprint planning backlog refinement and prioritisation
  • Capacity to balance hands-on coding with architectural oversight and team enablement
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting updates or messages to non-technical stakeholders
