Consultant - Tax Policy and Controversy

The opportunity

We are looking for a Consultant within the Tax Controversy team in our Perth office. We provide an end-to-end Tax Controversy service to our clients which enables the role to have a lot of variety. As our Consultant Tax Controversy & Policy you will advise clients on a broad range of tax matters with a focus on the technical and tactical management of all things tax.

Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your key responsibilities

  • Assist with providing advice to a range of clients from large corporates to high-net-worth individuals helping them to develop and document their tax corporate governance processes and test the operational effectiveness of their tax corporate governance framework.
  • Research matters of tax administration get involved in dispute resolution processes and help clients respond to requests for information in the context of ATO reviews and audits.
  • Be involved in the drafting of objections private binding ruling requests requests for amended assessments and submissions against penalties.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Law Degree
  • Admitted to practice
  • Tax technical skills or the ability to acquire
  • Ability to develop strong and broad relationships with clients and provide a high level of client service
  • Ability to work with a number of different clients and internal stakeholders on multiple deadlines

Ideally youll also have

  • Problem solving abilities and a focus on solutions
  • Willingness to learn and become involved in a range of different types of work
