Job Summary:
The Body Shop Parts Consultant plays a vital role in supporting the collision repair process by sourcing ordering and managing parts inventory for vehicle repairs. This position ensures timely availability of parts to keep repair jobs on schedule maintain customer satisfaction and uphold quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately identify locate and order parts required for body shop repair jobs using OEM catalogs and collision estimating systems.
- Communicate with technicians and estimators to confirm parts needs and clarify work orders.
- Coordinate and track parts orders delivery schedules backorders and returns.
- Inspect incoming parts for accuracy quality and damage; process discrepancies accordingly.
- Maintain an organized and clean parts storage area to ensure easy access and inventory control.
- Monitor inventory levels and perform regular stock checks to ensure availability of common repair parts.
- Work closely with vendors manufacturers and internal departments to resolve parts-related issues.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal staff and occasionally to external customers regarding parts questions or status.
- Prepare parts invoices and ensure accurate documentation of all transactions.
- Adhere to all company policies safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); additional technical or automotive training is a plus.
- 2 years of experience in an automotive parts or collision center environment (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of automotive body parts OEM and aftermarket components.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as CCC ONE (preferred) Mitchell or Audatex.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient in using dealership management systems Tekion and parts ordering software.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Typical work hours: Monday to Friday
- Work is performed in a body shop/warehouse environment with regular exposure to automotive parts and equipment.
