Job Description

Job Title: Sr. Planning Engineer (Cost)

Location: Qatar
Employment Type: Permanent Full-time

About the Role

The Sr. Planning Engineer (Cost) will be responsible for planning scheduling and cost estimation across engineering and construction projects. This role demands expertise in cost control scheduling and project planning to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within approved budgets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning

  • Define project objectives scope and deliverables with internal teams.

  • Develop comprehensive project plans including work breakdown structures (WBS).

  • Establish project timelines milestones and deliverables.

2. Scheduling

  • Develop maintain and update project schedules using project management software.

  • Allocate resources manpower and equipment efficiently.

  • Monitor progress identify potential delays and propose corrective measures.

3. Cost Estimation

  • Analyse project specifications to estimate costs for materials labor equipment and resources.

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets considering risks and market conditions.

  • Update estimates as project details evolve.

4. Cost Control

  • Monitor expenditures against budgets.

  • Identify and analyse variances recommending corrective actions.

  • Implement cost optimization strategies.

5. Risk Assessment

  • Identify potential risks that may impact cost and schedule.

  • Develop mitigation and contingency plans.

  • Regularly review and update risk registers.

6. Reporting

  • Prepare and present project progress and cost performance reports.

  • Provide analytical insights for management decision-making.

7. Documentation

  • Maintain accurate project records including schedules cost estimates budgets and reports.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Project Management or Construction Management.

  • 6–8 years of proven experience in project planning scheduling and cost estimation in EPC/Construction projects.

  • Proficiency in project management and cost estimation software/tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
