Job Description

We have an awesome opportunity to join the PowerNet team in the exciting and rewarding role of Future Networks Graduate or Intermediate Engineer based in PowerNets modern Invercargill office. We are open to applications from people who are able to start now or who might be completing their degree during 2025 and able to start later this year or early next year.

As the Future Networks Graduate or Intermediate Engineer you will be responsible for understanding and leveraging new energy technologies to deliver safe efficient and reliable power across the PowerNet networks and to our communities. Ideally you will have some experience in electricity distribution working with new technologies including the likes of battery energy storage solar or electric vehicles or you will be a recent graduate with a desire to develop your career in this direction.

About you - skills and experience

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Passionate about power systems and new energy technologies with an ability to understand how these are implemented
  • Experience in modelling of electricity network and power flow analysis
  • Experience in economic analysis and developing business cases
  • Aptitude for learning and applying new analytical tools
  • Strong at data analysis visualisation and summarisation
  • Proven capability to develop and manage effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly organised and results focussed
  • Forward thinking and innovative in solving problems
  • Ability in programming/scripting and project management would be advantageous
