The opportunity:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Plant Maintenance Manager to join our team at Visy Glass Penrose Auckland. This is a permanent position working
As the Plant Maintenance Manager you will report directly to the Reliability Manager and are responsible for leading the General Mechanical Maintenance department providing expertise in engineering design fault finding & investigation as well as analysis of engineering systems in the plant to optimise machine and production reliability productivity and maximise maintenance efficiency and environmental impact.
You will be a strong advocate to develop a continuous improvement culture in the General Maintenance department and promote safety quality and teamwork throughout the plant
This role works very closely with the production teams on the shop floor who are on rotating shift cycles. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Lead the safety initiative in the department through safety talks hazard identification/risk assessment accident investigation auditing and development of safe operating procedures and personal role modelling.
Supervise the General Maintenance department providing guidance support and training for tradesmen.
Control labour equipment and maintenance costs whilst ensuring the availability of adequate change parts and consumables.
Coordinate the breakdown maintenance job change action plans to minimise line/machine downtime.
Recommend improvements modifications upgrades and exchanges to plant equipment and machinery. Specify the equipment required for upgrades.
Project manage new system installations and modifications (including Capex preparation) including the provision of labour materials and other resources to ensure project cost allocation is not exceeded and timelines are met.
What you will bring to the team:
You will have proven experience working within a fast-paced high-volume manufacturing environment.
Expertise in glass/industrial manufacturing maintenance will be highly regarded.
You will have an eye for detail with an analytical mindset where you drive for continuous improvements and enjoy understanding the technical aspects of your operations.
Excellent communication skills in dealing with a diverse range of people internally and externally to the plant would help you succeed in the role.
Proven experience effectively managing a team including driving performance culture change accountability and training initiatives is essential.
Relevant degree or post-trade qualifications and lean manufacturing qualifications will be looked upon favourably.
Your technical knowledge regarding essential plant services such as compressors vacuum systems conveyor systems pneumatic conveying and water-cooling systems will be highly regarded.
Most importantly you will hold the safety of yourself and your team above all else
