M te tnga About the role

As Principal Advisor Crown Entity Monitoring you will provide technical leadership and expertise to support the leadership and delivery of our Crown Entity monitoring function. This function is designed as a third line of defense against critical risks and challenges which the entities may encounter and provides an objective and independent view to Ministers of their performance.

The Principal Advisors responsibilities include:

  • Leading advice on strategy capability governance and performance of monitored Crown entities
  • Providing expert advice and assistance to Ministers including working closely with Treasury on balance sheet issues
  • Assessing reporting and advising on the financial sustainability of monitored Crown entities
  • Enhancing wider system outcomes by building relationships between the monitored Crown entities the Ministry and the wider housing and urban system
  • Working with others across the group the organisation and the housing and urban system to understand needs and advise on best practice and fit-for-purpose commercial approaches
  • Identifying and resolving risks and issues leading organisational responses or escalating these as appropriate.

The salary range for this role is $144464 $% Kiwisaver contribution.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Extensive experience in corporate or Crown reporting environments demonstrating an ability to quickly assess financial and non-financial performance and link these to strategic risks
  • Proven experience providing high quality insights and advice to executive or senior leaders that align to organisational priorities ideally in the public service
  • Proven ability to develop trust and credibility with internal and external stakeholders including the Treasury
  • A strong understanding of the processes that underpin the operations of the public-sector environment including policy development Ministerial processes accountability and reporting
  • Sound business acumen with experience contributing to the development and delivery of strategic and operational plans and processes and driving change
  • Proven experience leading and contributing to organisational initiatives bringing the right people together to achieve the right outcomes and leading coaching and mentoring others in an inclusive way
  • Strong communication skills in particular articulating complex issues to broad audiences including Ministers and Offices
  • Self-motivated and able to manage your own workload with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
  • A track record of making quality decisions within your area of responsibility
  • A proven ability to identify trends risks and opportunities and navigate issues
  • Proven skills experience and knowledge that align to the responsibilities and outcomes of the role

You must also:

  • Have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
  • Be able to obtain relevant checks and clearances that are required (e.g. security clearance)
