The opportunity:

    • We are looking for an experienced and driven Tax Manager to join our people employment and mobility tax team. This role is ideal for a tax professional with deep expertise in New Zealand employment taxes and a passion for delivering strategic advice in a dynamic consulting or Big 4 environment.

Day to day you will:

    • Lead and manage client engagements across all employment tax related matters.
    • Oversee the preparation and review of tax compliance for high-net-worth individuals and expatriate employees including tax returns tax briefings payroll and advising on tax residence implications.
    • Advise on taxation of employee benefits employee share schemes fringe benefit tax and cross-border employment implications for employers and employees.
    • Provide strategic tax advice on remuneration planning mobility and workforce structuring.
    • Support clients with their tax governance framework with payroll and fringe benefit tax compliance reviews.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships acting as a trusted advisor.
    • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.
    • Stay abreast of legislative changes and proactively inform clients of impacts and opportunities.

What you will bring to the team:

    • Relevant tertiary qualification (Accounting/Law)
    • At least 5 years experience in employment tax within a consulting or accounting firm in New Zealand.
    • Strong technical knowledge of New Zealand tax legislation.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and deliver high-quality outcomes.
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
    • Client-focused with a collaborative mindset.
