Location: Kuala Lumpur

Ready to take your expertise in hydrodynamics and mooring to the next level Lloyds Register is seeking a specialist to join our renowned Floating Structures and Mooring Team within the Global Offshore Technical Support Office (TSO). Collaborate with global experts contribute to pioneering technologies like offshore floating wind risk based inspection and digital twins and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of offshore industries.

Lloyds Register is recruiting for a Specialist Mooring/Hydrodynamics Specialist to join our Offshore Floating Structures and Mooring Team within theGlobal Offshore Technical Support Office (TSO). This team has extensive expertise and experience in mooring and hydrodynamics and along with the other discipline teams within the TSO has a proven track record of providing independent assurance for the design procurement construction and operation of upstream oil and gas and offshore wind assets.

TheGlobal TSO has teams specialising in Materials Geotechnical Subsea & Wellheads Piping and Pressure systems Mechanical equipment Structures Electrical & Instrumentation and Fire & Safety.

The role

The role will primarily involve the appraisal of Hydrodynamics and Moorings for Offshore projects.

A smaller part of the role includes the following activities:

  • Assessment of technical queries
  • Technical support to LR Surveyors and business development teams
  • Maintenance and development of LR Rules and guidance documents
  • Internal research and technology projects in emerging technologies

What You Bring

This role requires specialist knowledge and experience in hydrodynamics and mooring engineering and their application in the Offshore industry.

There are specific requirements namely:

  • A degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in a naval architecture related subject
  • Experiencein the Offshore industry
  • Working knowledge of applicable offshore design codes and standards

You will need to be driven and adaptable and be able to use your in-depth understanding and your professional experience to assess technical queries and novel problems. You will be motivated to explore and learn but also have the attention to detail to follow codes standards and processes and contribute to their development. A high level of proficiency in the English language the ability to work and communicate effectively with colleagues across the organisation to be responsive to urgent requests for technical advice and to work in a team of specialists in related disciplines and with clients to identify and resolve technical issues will be required to succeed in this role.
