Job Description
THE CHINESEMEDICINEHOSPITAL OF HONG KONG
The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) is a flagship Chinese medicine(CM) institution leading the development of CM including Chinese medicines (CMs) in Hong Kong. The CMHHK adopts a public-private partnership model. The HKSAR Government has financed the construction and selected the Hong Kong Baptist University as the contractor to incorporate the HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited as the operator to manage operate and maintain the CMHHK.
The CMHHK is targeted to commence hospital services by phases at the end of 2025. The CMHHK aims to offer comprehensive CM care ranging from primary secondary to tertiary services and promote advanced and specialised CM services. The CMHHK will pioneer integrated Chinese-western medicine (ICWM) services to cater to different patient needs. Inpatient day-patient and outpatient treatments and also community services will be offered by the CMHHK. Both Government-subsidised services and add-on market-oriented services will be provided to ensure accessibility and to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community.
With a view to prioritising education training innovation and research including collaboration with local and overseas universities to advance evidence-based clinical research and develop CM theories and clinical applications the CMHHK is now looking for the following talent to join our team.
The CMHHK planning comes to commission stage II (Jan 2024- Dec 2025). During this stage the Chinese Medicine (CM) Division in CMHHK starts to plan the CM pharmacys details for the clinical services training and research in the CMHHK. The CM Division requires the following position in commission stage II to support the CM pharmacy operation protocols planning; to facilitate establishment of smart CM pharmacy; to develop the new drug application; and to facilitate the development of herb-drug interaction monitoring system.
Senior CMTechnician/ Dispenser or CMTechnician/Dispenser I ()
Responsibilities:
Report to the Chief Practitioner in CM Pharmacy and be responsible for the following duties:
- Assist in the development ofthe Standard Operation Procedures of CM pharmacy including but not limited to dispensing decocting compounding and storage management;
- Assist in the procurement work of CM pharmacy including but not limited to herbs herbal grannules and equipment;
- Assist in the development of IT-related procedures and system design;
- Assists in designing the training protocol of CM pharmacy team; and
- Performs any other duties as assigned by theChief Practitioner in CM Pharmacy.
Requirements:
Senior CMTechnician/ Dispenser
- A bachelors degree or certificate/diploma course in CM pharmacy/dispensing;
- An advanced level certificate/diploma in CM pharmacy/dispensing or related disciplines;
- 10 years or more experience as a CM technician/ dispenser;
- Experience in CM dispensing processing and operation of CM pharmacy;
- Experience in CM pharmacy design and management is highly preferable;
- Passionate in contributing the establishment of CMHHK;
- Show strong leadership in leading the CM pharmacy team;
- Possess innovative ideas and experience in smart CM pharmacy management;
- Possess professional knowledge in Chinese Materia Medica identification and quality control;
- Meticulousness excellent communication analytical and problem-solving skills and a strong sense of responsibility;
- Self-motivation with the ability to work independently as well as with a team;
- An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel and PowerPoint) SPSS and Chinese word processing.
CMTechnician/Dispenser I
- A bachelors degree or certificate/diploma in CM pharmacy/dispensing;
- 5 years or more experience as a CMTechnician/ Dispenser;
- Experience in CM dispensing processing and operation of CM pharmacy;
- Passionate in contributing the establishment of CMHHK;
- Possess innovative ideas and experience in smart CM pharmacy management;
- Meticulousness excellent communication analytical and problem-solving skills and a strong sense of responsibility;
- Self-motivation with the ability to work independently as well as with a team;
- An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel and PowerPoint) SPSS and Chinese word processing.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract by Hong Kong Baptist University. Following the commencement of CMH and subject to the candidates satisfactory performance and the decision of CMH subsequent appointment will be offered directly by CMH.

Work location: Kowloon Tong Campus and The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong in Tseung Kwan O when the hospital site is ready.
