Job Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing and overseeing a broad range of financial functions that support Old Yale Brewing (OYB) operations. We are seeking a highly analytical detail-oriented and experienced professional who can manage financial tasks ensure compliance and deliver accurate reporting with consistency and precision. This role also includes responsibility for payroll processing.
Beyond technical expertise the Senior Accountant plays a vital role in safeguarding our financial health and contributing to the OYBs overall success. The position supports a collaborative work environment and helps uphold our corporate culture which is built on teamwork integrity and innovation.
Reporting directly to the Controller the Senior Accountant works cross-functionally with all departments providing financial insight and support across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing and completing review procedures over the daily functions of the accounting department including accounts payable accounts receivable general ledger payroll and financial transactions.
- Preparing and processing salary and hourly payroll.
- Handling time and attendance and payroll inquiries.
- Managing year-end payroll processes and reporting.
- Distributing monthly budget reports and assisting with analyzing and reporting on actual and budget variances.
- Assisting in the preparation of the monthly financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assisting in documentation and implementation of internal control procedures.
- Assisting in the preparation of reports as required by law regulations or company policies.
- Other tasks and duties as required.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting Finance or Business Administration with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- CPA designation is an asset.
- Experience in a payroll role is required.
- Strong understanding of labour standards is required.
- Experience in a brewing or beverage industry is considered an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of products and QuickBooks.
- Experience with EKOS (brewing software) and Payworks (payroll) is considered an asset.
- Excellent technical and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Communicates strategically and efficiently both written and verbally.
- Strong track record of managing full-cycle accounting operations.
- Proven ability to multi-task and have a roll-up the sleeves mentality.
- Ability to establish good working relationships both internally and with external stakeholders
- Demonstrates passion and drive for the future of the organization.
