Job Description
WDAF-TV FOX4 in Kansas City is seeking a dynamic and enterprisingNews Reporterto join our team. This role is ideal for a journalist who thrives in a fast-paced collaborative newsroom and is passionate about telling compelling stories acrossbroadcast digital and streaming platforms.
The successful candidate will be a strong storyteller with excellent live reporting skills a deep understanding of local issues and the ability to connect with viewers in a clear engaging and meaningful way.

- Enterprise original impactful stories that resonate with the local community across all platforms broadcast digital streaming and social media.
- Deliver live reports with confidence and clarity especially during breaking news and developing stories.
- Write and produce content in a clear concise and engaging manner tailored to each platform.
- Build and maintain a network of sources to stay ahead of the news curve.
- Conduct interviews with newsmakers and community members to enhance storytelling.
- Collaborate with producers photographers and newsroom staff to shape coverage and segment ideas.
- Ensure all content meets FOX4s standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
- Contribute to the stations digital presence.
- Take part in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimumtwo yearsof experience in news reporting
- Strong on-air presence and ability to ad-lib effectively.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Solid news judgment and a broad understanding of current events local issues and storytelling techniques.
- Open to feedback and coaching with a track record of applying guidance to improve performance.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
- Proficiency with newsroom technology editing software and digital publishing tools.
- Ability to meet deadlines manage multiple assignments and adapt to breaking news.
- Valid drivers license with a good driving record.
- Flexibility to work any shift including early mornings evenings weekends and holidays.
