Job Summary
The Prescription Refill Coordinator will process all patient medication refill requests and priorauthorizations.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Answer calls regarding medication refills from patients and pharmacies
• Investigate the status of medication refills
• Educate patients regarding DAP Health medication refill policies and procedures
• Provide outstanding customer service to patients and pharmacy staff to ensure a positiveimage for DAP Health
• Ensure accuracy in documenting medication refills within patients medical record
• Check fax machines for patient medication refill requests faxed from pharmacies
• Retrieve phone messages from dedicated phones for medication refill requests
• Present refill requests to the provider in a timely manner
• Fax back signed medication refill requests to the identified pharmacies
• Scan faxed signed document into patients chart
• Document refill in patients chart
• Notify patient of denied refill requests
• Prepare prior authorizations for intake medications per doctors orders
• Prepare prior authorizations for newborns special formula per doctors orders
• As a Medical Assistants responsible for knowing their scope of practice
• Maintain compliance with DAP Healths policies and procedure and promotes a teamenvironment
• Participate in conferences seminars and training sessions as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

• Effective communication with patients and coworkers; ability to work as a team member
• Effective interpersonal skills
• Bilingual in Spanish/English or other language preferred
• Proficient in electronic health records - EPIC preferred
• Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills

Education and Experience

• Medical assistant certificate or signed training on venipuncture infectious control patientprivacy basic anatomy and physiology by Registered Nurse or Physician
• Two-year medical assistant work experience
• Current BLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association or American RedCross

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

• This position is on-site at a DAP Health Clinic
• Able to lift/move up to 40 pounds move from place to place and stand for long periods of time
• Requires current and valid drivers license and current personal auto insurance as well asreliable transportation
• Able to travel to DAP Health locations throughout San Diego and the Coachella Valley to provide staffing support and off-site training/meetings
• Available for all shifts and when required able to work evenings and weekends
