Job Description:

L3Harris Integrated Vision Solutions has an availability for an Operations Manager to join our manufacturing facility in Tempe AZ.

The Operations Manager will direct the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals quality and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction equipment efficiency and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. Makes budgetary recommendations and at higher levels controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor and is responsible for managing two or more of the following activities related to operations: manufacturing production planning manufacturing engineering test quality or shipping/receiving/stores. Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Selects develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance within 6 months of hire
  • Leads and directs experienced professionals lower level supervisors or associate managers. Communicates within and outside of organization to explain and influence changes to policies practices or approaches. Makes significant improvements in processes systems or products. Establishes short-term operational plans with measurable contribution to function or business area results. Requires management and leadership knowledge in job area and comprehensive knowledge within professional discipline.
  • Manages individual(s) typically consisting of experienced professionals or lower level supervisors or associate managers. Leads directs and reviews the work of direct report(s) who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments. Has hiring firing promotion and compensation authority within own organization in accordance with management review and approval. Reports to Senior Manager or higher.
  • Communicates with parties within and outside of the organization which includes customers or vendors. Works to influence others to accept individual or teams views or practices and changes to concepts practices and approaches. Requires ability to communicate with leadership regarding matters of importance to the function or business area. May conduct briefings with senior leaders.
  • Work consists of making significant improvements of processes systems solutions or products to enhance performance of job area. May develop new concepts or standards. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are undefined where information is difficult to obtain. Conducts extensive investigation to understand root cause of problems. Problems span a wide range of difficult and unique issues across the function and/or business area.
  • Manages a team with focus on policy and strategy implementation. Establishes operational plans with measurable contribution towards the achievement of results of the job function. Focus is on short-term operational plans (e.g. less than 1 year). Provides measurable input of new products processes or standards in operational plans that will have some impact on the achievement of overall functional results. Typically does not have budget or Profit & Loss (P&L) accountability but may manage certain processes or projects within a defined budget set by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related lieu of a degree minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active US Confidential Clearance or higher
  • Experience working with root cause problem solving methodologies
  • Experience with manufacturing electronics and/or electro-optical products
  • Understanding and utilization of continuous improvement practices.
  • Black Belt/Six Sigma certification or equivalent Lean Manufacturing certifications
  • Experience with NPI process and transitioning programs from Engineering to Quality
