AWC Staff Services are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to work with our client whomanufacture machinery for the treatment and disposal of food waste.
Home based and reporting to the Engineering Manager Manager the Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the planned preventative and reactive maintenance of waste disposal and recycling machinery ensuring maximum operational efficiency minimal downtime and compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repairs
Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on all waste disposal and recycling equipment including conveyors shredders compactors balers and sorting systems.
Respond promptly to breakdowns diagnose faults and complete effective repairs to minimise downtime.
Conduct routine inspections lubrication adjustments and component replacements as required.
You will be working with hydraulic pneumatic mechanical and electrical systems to ensure equipment is calibrated tested and operating to manufacturer specifications and Maintain accurate maintenance records and update asset management systems.
Essential Requirements:
Proven experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance ideally within waste management recycling or heavy industrial environments.
Competence in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic pneumatic and mechanical faults.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
Understanding of relevant health safety and environmental regulations
Any experience with PLC-controlled systems would be advantageous.
Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. Health & Safety training (e.g. IOSH SPA Passport) preferred.
