Job Summary:

Vanderbilt Health - Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for a Vice President Supply Chain.

The Vice President Supply Chain oversees and guides the essential operational managerial professional and corporate duties in support of end-to-end procure to pay lifecycle at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Ensuring operational excellence financial stewardship and compliance in all aspects of supply chain transactions. The Vice President Supply Chain Procure to Pay leads cross-functional teams and initiatives for Purchasing Sourcing Value Analysis Accounts Payable Travel Employee Reimbursement Payment Card Administration and Supply Chain Systems. This role is critical in aligning supply chain procure-to-pay operations with organizational goals driving cost savings enhancing supplier relationships and optimizing system performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead Procurement & Sourcing Strategy

Advance enterprise-wide procurement initiatives leveraging internal relationships and vendor partnerships to deliver value and support clinical and operational goals.

Oversee Value Analysis Programs

Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to evaluate product utilization standardization opportunities and cost-benefit outcomes.

Manage Accounts Payable Operations

Ensure timely and accurate invoice processing while identifying opportunities for ongoing automation and process improvement.

Govern Travel & Expense Programs

Optimize travel and reimbursement policies to balance cost control compliance and employee experience.

Administer Payment Card & Reimbursement Programs

Maintain oversight of corporate card usage and employee reimbursements ensuring transparency and adherence to financial policies.

Lead Supply Chain Systems Strategy

Lead the evolution of supply chain technology platforms including ERP inventory and other supply chain systems to support data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency.

Champion Process Improvement & Compliance

Identify and implement best practices across the P2P lifecycle ensuring alignment with internal controls and regulatory standards.

Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Finance IT Clinical Operations and other departments to integrate supply chain processes with broader organizational priorities.

Develop and Empower Teams

Mentor and support team members cultivating a culture of accountability innovation and continuous learning.

  • Identify and analyze opportunities in terms of financial strategic and business impact on VUMC.
  • Follow trends and analyze data supporting supply chain operations.
  • Actively participate in developing maintaining updating and achieving short- and long-term goals for assigned areas.
  • Present proposals to senior management for approval.
  • Provide leadership over specific business segments by managing projects fostering innovation initiating improvement and developing new programs.
  • Participate in and/or lead teams in the development of opportunities oversight of implementation of new projects and/or day to day operations.
  • Develop excellent professional relationships with relevant entities and individuals.
  • Lead and/or contribute to financial analyses that adhere to all pertinent regulatory requirements.
  • Lead budgeting facilities and equipment investment and resource allocation decisions.
  • Participate in the hiring of key managers.
  • Ensure that financial performance of assigned areas meets or exceeds budget regarding revenue and expense.
  • Maintain personal competencies through participation in professional industry and/or community affairs keeping abreast of trends and changing practices in the healthcare industry.
  • Show commitment to professional self-development through the advancement and active involvement in various healthcare associations and professional groups.
  • Verify appropriate policies and procedures are in place to maximize efficiency and provide adequate financial controls.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Business Supply Chain Finance or related field (Masters preferred)

10 years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain procurement or finance

Proven success in managing large-scale P2P operations and cross-functional teams

Strong understanding of ERP systems procurement technologies and financial controls
