The opportunity
Unity Ads Data Engineering team is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in Data Engineering and a passion for working on cutting edge technology.
We are looking for a team player that can work independently but also be a mentor for engineers on the team. As a Senior Data Engineer you will be responsible for the design and development of data pipelines and services to enable data-driven insights and power BI ML experimentation and user-facing features.
You will be exposed to multiple cloud platforms and data pipelines that process >7 billion events per day. We expect that you have had exposure and experience with big data pipeline engineering.

What youll be doing
- Work closely with our BI team and stakeholders to design and develop analytics products and data solutions for internal and external customers.
- Design and develop scalable data pipelines using technologies such as Spark Python Airflow Snowflake BigQuery DBT Druid and others.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including ML engineers data scientists and analysts to understand business and data needs and translate them into data solutions that support data-driven insights and reporting.
- Implement best practices for data infrastructure storage and processing in a petabyte-scale environment.
- Work with multiple cloud platforms (GCP AWS Snowflake) to architect and develop cloud-based data solutions.
- Monitor and maintain pipelines to uphold internal service level agreements (SLAs).
- Implement data governance strategies to ensure data quality consistency and security across the organization.
What were looking for
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in data engineering including designing and optimizing complex data pipelines.
- Proficient in SQL and programming languages such as Python Scala or Java.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g. Flink Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g. GCP preferred AWS).
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts such as ETL/ELT data modeling and data patterns such as SCD CDC snapshots partitioning etc.
- Strong data architectural knowledge comfort working across multiple repositories services and environments.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and ownership of problem definitions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
You might also have
- Knowledge of Kafka or similar pub-sub technology.
- Experience in AdTech is a plus but not required
