Responsibilities

EssentialFunctions
  • Conducts interactions with everyone in a friendly courteous and respectful manner.
  • Goes out of his/her way to offer assistance to others. If he/she cannot offer assistance then finds someone who can.
  • Advocates to ensure privacy and confidentiality while helping others to maintain awareness.
  • Maintains a clean and safe hospital.
  • Responds appropriately and immediately in emergency situations.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy environment for patients visitors and/or staff to provide the highest level of physical comfort and minimize risk and injury.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations to maintain accreditation and licensure.
  • Complies with the Hospital Attendance and Tardiness Policy.
  • Completed all Hospital and Department Specific Mandatory requirements in the prior calendar year.
  • Reports Incidents in a timely and effective manner.
  • All employees with direct patient contact are responsible for actively engaging in the practice of monitoring and enforcing compliance to hand hygiene.
  • Responds immediately to critical events.
  • Provides leadership and follow up during critical events such as code blue code red and code 100.
  • Provides appropriate follow up (i.e. staff education documentation family / staff support etc.)
  • Adjusts staffing levels to ensure the highest level of patient care.
  • Evaluates staffing needs continuously and adjusts as necessary to meet the needs of the patient for the current and next shifts.
  • Functions as a clinical and administrative resource for the nursing staff.
  • Functions as a clinical and administrative resource for the nursing staff.
  • Provides clinical consultation advice and education.
  • Assists staff with problems.
  • Completes all employee performance evaluations by evaluation due dates.
  • Assists staff with conflict resolution (i.e. staff / physician patient / physician staff / staff).
  • Mediates conflict.
  • Reports and communicates situation appropriately.
  • Advocates for patients families and staff.
  • Intervenes on patient / staff behalf.
  • Supports patients rights.
  • Supports other departments to meet patient needs.
  • Maintains operations of other departments during non-operating hours.
  • Functions as an administrative resource for other departments during non-operative hours.

Functional Demands
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction) and handles (seizing holding grasping turning or working with hands).

Qualifications

Job Requirements
Minimum Education
  • Graduate of accredited school of Nursing.
  • Associates degree in Nursing required.
  • BachelorsDegree preferred
Minimum Work Experience
  • Minimum of three years acute care experience required.
  • Critical care or Emergency care experience preferred.
  • Charge nurse experience required.
  • Supervisor experience preferred
Required Licenses
  • Current MA RN licensure
  • Current AHA ACLS required
