Nursing education is a practice specialty that seeks to improve the health of the community through enhancing the professional practice and competence of registered nurses and other nursing personnel.
This position will support nursing education for pediatric acute care and behavioral health for Helen Devos Childrens Hospital
Scope of work
Partnering with educator peers as well as other leaders this role helps to meet the educational needs of nursing across Corewell Health West through standardization innovation and the application of evidence-based practice. Oversees orientation as part of the onboarding process to ensure that new hire/transfer employees have the knowledge and skill to safely practice independently in their role. The educator develops coordinates manages facilitates conducts and evaluates orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel. Develops coordinates manages facilitates conducts and evaluates competency programs. The educator collaborates with operational leaders to address deficits in employees knowledge and skills. Designs and develops educational opportunities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge skills and practice. This may include obtaining continuing education approval. Fosters interprofessional learning and enables effective collaboration to improve practice outcomes for the nurse and other health care personnel. Functions as a mentor coach and resource in the development of nursing and other clinical support roles as the employee transitions throughout their career life cycle.
Applies research evidenced based practice and quality improvement principles in education professional role development orientation and competency.
