Job Description

The School of Social Sciences invites applications for part-time lecturer (PTL). We are looking for PTL who will serve as primary instructor of core and elective courses in the Psychology major curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and delivery of lectures tutorials and discussion sections.
  • Supervision and coordination of teaching assistants and tutors.
  • Setting of assessment components and marking of examinations.

Qualification and requirement:

  • The successful candidate will hold a doctorate-level or a masters-level qualification in an appropriate Psychological field be able to demonstrate effective teaching and training of undergraduate students. Candidates with specializations in one or more of these fields are particularly welcome: Personality Psychology I/O Psychology Bio-psychology and Clinical Psychology. Evidence of excellence in teaching and/or clinical supervision is highly desirable.

  • The successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to teaching and development of multiple courses at the undergraduate level including introductory level survey-type courses laboratory and methods courses and seminar courses.

Essential selection criteria:

  • The attainment of a higher degree (PhD/DPhil/Masters) in Psychology or a related discipline
  • Experience and interest in teaching undergraduate psychology students with a strong and demonstrable commitment to the organization and delivery of teaching particularly in one or more areas of Personality Psychology I/O Psychology Bio-psychology and/or Clinical Psychology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills relevant to teaching and pastoral care
  • Willingness and ability to contribute to the overall objectives of the Programme and School working collaboratively with others

Desirable selection criteria:

  • A developing track record of research (e.g. peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations) in Personality Psychology I/O Psychology Bio-psychology and/or Clinical Psychology
  • Experience of academic administration
