Overview
The Finance Business Partner Senior Manager oversees all financial aspects of designated business units (Trauma & Extremities and NSE/CMF) in Japan. This role acts as a strategic partner to Business Unit leaders and marketing teams driving sales growth and managing operating income. The position is responsible for leading financial forecasting ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and proactively identifying risks and opportunities that impact business and financial results.
This role collaborates closely with FP&A teams to support financial planning reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will provide strategic insights to drive business performance and support decision-making through detailed financial analysis. The role reports to Senior Director Finance Japan.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead financial forecasting and budgeting for the BU P&L including sales cost of goods sold (COGS) expenses capital expenditures (CapEx) and headcount planning.
- Perform financial reporting and analysis on key metrics such as sales performance gross margin operating income and spending trends.
- Monitor and manage business risks and opportunities proactively.
- Partner with FP&A to maintain accurate financial reporting cost center management and project tracking.
Business Partnering & Decision Support
- Act as a strategic finance partner to BU leaders and marketing teams providing financial insights to drive growth.
- Review and validate key business proposals including pricing changes financial structuring of deals and CapEx investments.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses to support business development return on investment (ROI) calculations and resource allocation.
- Actively participate in key business discussions such as monthly performance reviews Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings and business council sessions providing financial insights and recommendations.
Performance Monitoring & Process Improvement
- Drive business performance through financial monitoring analysis and actionable recommendations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying efficiencies in financial planning forecasting and reporting processes.
Qualifications/Work Experience Preferred
Required:
- 8-10 years of finance experience in a multinational corporation as a Finance Business Partner supporting commercial operations.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills with a curiosity to deeply understand business drivers.
- Proficiency in ERP systems financial planning tools and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Fluent in Japanese and English.
Preferred:
- Industry experience in healthcare or a related sector.
- Knowledge of SQL Power BI or other financial analytics tools.
- Qualified Accountant (CPA ACCA) or MBA with a finance specialization.
- Familiarity with local GAAP and US GAAP reporting standards.
