Role description:

• Analyse database activity (DBMS errors daily DBMS space diagnostic checks DBMS growth non-application related performance resource limits backup process security and compliance)
• Propose improvements to optimise configuration and performance
• Provide administration support for incidents problems and changes and perform database shutdowns and restarts
• Collect database statistics create ad hoc reports and data extracts
• Apply fixes and patches to address security vulnerabilities and conform to vendor recommendations
• Manage system users and groups (create and modify DBMS user IDs) and populate the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) with database configuration items in the ITSM tool
• Manage access control for DBMS in line with Sellafield security baselines; collaborate with the customer on security monitoring and corrective actions
• Monitor scheduled housekeeping jobs perform regular maintenance and clean-up of the database environment and ensure correct functioning of tasks
• Handle backup restore archiving and deletion processes

• Knowledge of database administration configuration clustering optimization and access management
• Knowledge of Configuration Management

What you will need:

• Comprehensive knowledge of database concepts data modelling and database applications with ability to apply knowledge across COTS and bespoke applications
• Solid understanding of Corporate Industry and Professional Standards
• Experience with Oracle Database
