Job Description

Reports to: Director of Special Education

Revision Date: March 3 2025

Terms of Employment: Per Marysville MEA Negotiated Agreement

Position Description:

The School Social Worker will be responsible for providing direct and consultative services to both General and Special Education students to support their social emotional and behavioral well-being. This role requires establishing and maintaining appropriate records and reports while adhering to district policies and confidentiality standards. The School Social Worker will assist in developing and implementing positive behavioral intervention strategies and serve as an active member of district and school crisis teams. Collaboration is a key aspect of this position as the Social Worker will work closely with parents staff school administrators and community agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students. Additionally they will provide consultation collaboration and advisement services to students their families and school personnel regarding students social emotional and behavioral needs. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the overall success of the school community.

The School Social Worker works under the direction of the Director of Special Education.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Masters Degree in Social Worker

  • MDE school certification or the ability to apply for school certification
  • CPI Certification or the ability to obtain certification without restriction
  • Must have knowledge of the IEP process and familiarity with Michigan rules and regulations for Special Education
  • Must have the ability to write clear concise reports based on observation
  • Knowledge of Special Education Certifications
  • Ability to develop and implement measurable IEP goals and objectives
  • Regular and consistent attendance

Certificates Licenses Education:

  • See above (Education and / or Experience Required)

Competencies to Successfully Perform Essential Functions:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with staff and students
  • Working relationships include all administrative and teaching personnel as well as students and other stakeholders.
  • Must have the ability to write clear concise reports based on observation

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and implement measurable IEP goals and objectives
  • Use the electronic IEP system to ensure timely and accurate reporting evaluations and assessments on caseload students.
  • Serve on building crises teams as determined by district administration.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Districts administration.

Grantfundedprogram services supplement and support but do not supplant or replace the general educational program of the school district.In addition to other specified conditions of employment the applicant understands that no guarantee of continued employment beyond the availability of thefunds is expressed or implied.
