Description
Summary
The Site Safety Specialist is a specialized and critical position accountable for contributing to HarbisonWalker International overall business performance by ensuring compliance with occupational safety and health regulations customer site specific safety-related requirements at their on-site location(s). The position will also work with the internal Environmental Health & Safety team to align with best practices and ergonomic solutions to make the workplace safer for our employees.

Job Duties
  • Complying with HarbisonWalker Internationals customers policies and PPE requirements
  • Implementing maintaining and ensuring conformance with written safe job procedures
  • Conducting pre-shift job safety briefing meetings
  • Observing employees and conducting safety interactions
  • Ensuring full compliance with all OSHA and other applicable safety regulations
  • Documenting all safety-related activities
  • Providing a weekly report summarizing the issues conditions unsafe acts encountered and corrective actions to the customers safety manager
  • Notifying customer site Health & Safety Manager of all injuries or significant incidents and conduct investigations and corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • Requires B.S. degree in Safety and Health related or equivalent practical field experience
  • Requires computer operation skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Requires strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Requires understanding and ability to interpret reliability metrics
  • Requires knowledge of OSHA EPA and workers compensation regulations and practices
  • Requires knowledge and skills in environmental safety requirements
  • The Site Safety Specialist requires zero (0) two (2) years of industrial/manufacturing safety experience with a general knowledge of OSHA regulations.
