What will you do as an Operations Engineer
As an Operations Engineer you will support our software development team by ensuring the efficiency stability and security of our database environment. With advanced SQL development skills and expertise in database management particularly within Microsoft SQL Server you will focus on optimizing query performance automating operations and ensuring compliance with standards policies and procedures.
Vopak is in the process of rebuilding its core systems using the OutSystems platform. As an Operations Engineer you will support product teams with database-related activities troubleshooting and performance optimization while also ensuring smooth collaboration with external vendors and internal teams.
What do we offer you
A gross salary between 25K- 35K depending on your experience knowledge and seniority in the role

This position can be located in Lisbon Coimbra or Castelo Branco

What do we expect from you as an Operations Engineer
More than 2 years of operations experience preferably with cloud technologies and cloud storage.
Strong knowledge of SQL Server PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
In-depth understanding of query optimization indexing strategies and execution plans.
Affinity with development tools and programming languages.
A college or academic degree in computer science or another engineering discipline combined with at least 2 years of working experience.
Basic knowledge of ITIL service management processes.
Experience working in (scrum) teams applying an agile way of working.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Competencies such as Quality Orientation Results Orientation Teamwork Planning & Organizing and Problem Analysis & Judgment.
Understanding of application architecture design and cloud technologies.
A track record in automating processes for development testing deployment or operations of cloud applications.
What does your day look like
As an Operations Engineer you will ensure the stability and performance of our DevOps applications. Your role will include optimizing database queries and indexes automating operations and safeguarding 24/7 operations in collaboration with software vendors external support teams and internal DevOps teams. You will provide metrics and dashboards to help improve application quality develop contingency plans for backups and restores and participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and retrospectives. Additionally you will perform peer reviews on scripts and code ensuring conformance to best practices.
