The opportunity
As HSQE Manager for the East Coast you will implement the organisations HSQE plans and policies. Through effective management and communication you will lead the proactive safety culture of the region contributing to a sustainable and profitable business. You will provide leadership advice and support to the region to help deliver work for customers safely on time within budget and to the highest quality standard. You will also oversee the provision of education and training to employees. This position can be based from our Gisborne or Hawkes Bay office.
In addition to the above you will:
Promote lead and support the safety culture of the company
Take responsibility for HSQE within the region to ensure compliance with the company health and safety policy
Assist with the development updating and maintenance and implementation of the living safely manual to ensure compliance with H&S legislation regulations and standards and codes of practice
Ensure the systems in the manual are implemented and complied with throughout the company
Provide advice guidance support and training to management and staff at all levels in relation to health and safety
Assist management to comply with the company quality policy
Manage the procedures and requirements of the company environmental policy
Identify cost savings opportunities ie - reducing injury costs through proactive spend
To be successful in this role you will:
A minimum of 5 years current experience in a Health & Safety role within roading civil contracting or civil construction industry
Ideally you will have 2 years experience in a Health & Safety Managers position with proven leadership skills and experience managing and developing teams onsite and remotely
Formal Health & Safety qualification
Have experience in and good understanding of civil contracting businesses
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels
Ability to influence and engage stakeholders
Competent in producing reports and analysing data
Have a solution-oriented and hands-on approach
You will be a supportive and collaborative leader with a passion for developing and growing talent. You will have strong financial and business acumen.
