About the Team & the Position

As a business unit of the Digital division the Cloud Platforms Infrastructure & Networks (CPIN) department manages IT operations including the IT Networks across AEMO.

The Network Services team within CPIN provide operational support and services to ensure the stable and effective operations of the core technology networks. The Network Services team has a strong focus on the continuous improvement of its operations along with project delivery processes to support efficient and effective delivery of all critical services to the AEMO organization.

TheSenior Network Engineer designs and delivers network solutions and provides operational support for AEMOs highly available critical network infrastructure. The role ensures network deployments align with policies and standards set by AEMOs cyber-security framework to secure the infrastructure.

Position Responsibilities

  • Produce the detailed network designs based on high level architecture designs and roadmaps.
  • Lead the implementation of network builds and transition to operational standards.
  • Produce the as built documents aligned with the detailed network designs. Document network processes procedures and standards ensuring compliance with market audits.
  • Provide support for network BAU operations including incident change and service management.
  • Provide recommendations to integrate new technologies and equipment without impacting highly available systems aligned to AEMOs IT strategy architecture roadmaps and security frameworks.
  • Maintain the network monitoring and alerting systems. Assist AEMO project teams to deliver the infrastructure for technology projects on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with market participants and internal technology groups and stakeholders to develop and implement services and resolve issues with IT systems.
  • Rotate through a 24 x 7 on-call roster for after-hours incident management.

Position Requirements

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in the data centre technology environment.
  • Strong in-depth experience in WAN LAN Collaboration Security and Internet technologies. Proven capability working in high availability system environments.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to ITIL service management and quality assurance systems
  • Hands-on deployment and operational experience with Data Centre network infrastructure Voice gateways/SBC/Unified Communications platforms Next-gen firewalls and Load Balancers.
  • Enterprise voice and video-conferencing platforms Windows and ESX environments and NSX network Cybersecurity approaches and technologies
  • Experience in automation programming/scripting skills

Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to attain and maintain an appropriate level of national security clearance.

Education/ professional Certifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Computing and IT Communications/Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • Recognised professional certification in Cisco F5 Palo Alto Networks or other network technologies
