Over the past few years the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has responded to an unprecedented level of emergencies many in high risk areas while maintaining ongoing operations. The Security Division under the framework of the UN Security Management System ensures these operations consider the safety and security aspect of its staff facilities and assets. The current operating context demands more agility and greater support and services from the Division. This increased demand puts both pressure on the organization as a whole as well as the need for greater efforts in ensuring the safety and security of these operations.
The Security Division relies on timely accurate comprehensive and relevant security-related data and information for effective security risk management to support WFP operations and the midst of digital transformation the Security Division has embraced technology solutions to optimize what and how the Division work while enhancing its support to global operations in the constantly changing context. This position is in the Business Transformation Unit of the Policy & Enabling Services Section of the Security Division.
The incumbent under the direct supervision of the Head of the Business Transformation Unit is expected to:
Design internal process improvements: automating manual processes - using corporate applications as much as possible - optimizing data delivery re-designing architecture for greater scalability define metrics and indicators to measure effectiveness and efficacy. Scout and proposed innovative solutions to support evolution of SEC processes and translate business requirements into technical specifications while aligning solutions with corporate standards and Security priorities. Provide liaison with WFP/UN partners and other WFP divisions to achieve data integration. Develop detailed system and functional specifications and user documentation for consistency and continuity including records of issues and any maintenance and development efforts undertaken. Provide support to the whole Security Division - at HQ and country level - to assure proper use of the digital solutions delivered. Assure full implementation of the current Security Digital Roadmap being commitment to guarantee scalability and accessibility of the digital assets to all the teams in the Security Division Perform other duties as required.
Education:
Advanced university degree in computer science information systems or related field or a first-level university degree with additional years of related work experience.
Experience:
At least 10 years of demonstrated work experience in designing and developing technical solutions including work on mobile applications and implementation of technology projects. At least two years of experience with self-service analytics and data visualization applications (Qlik Tableau Foundry or similar) or business intelligence tools (SAP Business Objects etc.) is required. Experience with mobile development in multiplatform frameworks with React Native.

Excellent command of spoken and written English (fluency/level C knowledge). Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
