The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) is a flagship Chinese medicine (CM) institution leading the development of CM including Chinese medicines (CMs) in Hong Kong. The CMHHK adopts a public-private partnership model. The HKSAR Government has financed the construction and selected the Hong Kong Baptist University as the contractor to incorporate the HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited as the operator to manage operate and maintain the CMHHK.

The CMHHK is targeted to commence hospital services by phases at the end of 2025. The CMHHK aims to offer comprehensive CM care ranging from primary secondary to tertiary services and promote advanced and specialised CM services. The CMHHK will pioneer integrated Chinese-western medicine (ICWM) services to cater to different patient needs. Inpatient day-patient and outpatient treatments and also community services will be offered by the CMHHK. Both Government-subsidised services and add-on market-oriented services will be provided to ensure accessibility and to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community.

With a view to prioritising education training innovation and research including collaboration with local and overseas universities to advance evidence-based clinical research and develop CM theories and clinical applications the CMHHK is now looking for the following talent to join our team.

The CMHHK planning comes to commission stage II (Jan 2024 - Dec 2025). During this stage the CM Division in CMHHK starts to design the details of protocols for its clinical service training research and public promotion. The CM Division requires the following positions in commission stage II to support the evidence-based protocol drafting in the area of CM ICWM services training and research; to support the IT and application designs related to operations; and to coordinate the promotional campaign so as to increase public awareness of the missions of CMHHK and spread the CM culture in the community.

SeniorPractitioner in Chinese Medicine (CM) Pharmacy/ Practitioner in CM Pharmacy ()

Responsibilities:

Report to the Chief Practitioner in CM Pharmacy and be responsible for the following duties:

• Assists in the development of the Standard Operation Procedures of CM pharmacy that can serve the outpatient day-patient and in-patient clinical services in CMHHK;Develops and implements inventory management policies and procedures executes inventory allocation plans to ensure appropriate level of stock;
• Assists in the development of smart CM pharmacy system including its automation in dispensing decocting storage management and hospital in-house logistics through the flow design the equipment procurement and the building capacity planning etc.;
• Assists in the procurement work of CM pharmacy including but not limited to herbs herbal granules and equipment;
• Assists in the license applications of CM pharmacy;
• Assists in the development of new drug applications and its pharmaceutics procedures;
• Assists in designing the training protocol of CM pharmacy team;
• Handles IT-related procedures and system design;
• Develops implements and reviews quality assurance policies and procedures inCMs compounded preparation;
• Assists in the development of herb-drug interaction monitoring system; and
• Performs any other duties as assigned by the Chief Practitioner in CM Pharmacy.

Requirements:

SeniorPractitioner in Chinese Medicine (CM) Pharmacy

• A bachelors degree in pharmacy in CM or equivalent;
• A post-graduate certificate or diploma in CM pharmacy or a masters degree in CM pharmacy or related disciplines;
• 5 years or more experience in CM pharmacy operation and experience in CM dispensing and processing;
• Experience in CM pharmacy design and management is highly preferable;
• Passionate in contributing the establishment of CMHHK;
• Show strong leadership in leading the CM pharmacy team;
• Possess innovative ideas and experience in smart CM pharmacy management;
• Possess professional knowledge in Chinese Materia Medica identification and quality control;
• Meticulousness excellent communication analytical and problem-solving skills and a strong sense of responsibility;
• Self-motivation with the ability to work independently as well as with a team;
• An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel and PowerPoint) SPSS and Chinese word processing.

Practitioner in CM Pharmacy

• A bachelors degree in pharmacy in CM or equivalent;
• Passionate in contributing the establishment of CMHHK;
• Possess innovative ideas and experience in smart CM pharmacy management;
• Possess professional knowledge in Chinese Materia Medica identification and quality control;
• Meticulousness excellent communication analytical and problem-solving skills and a strong sense of responsibility;
• Self-motivation with the ability to work independently as well as with a team;
• An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel and PowerPoint) SPSS and Chinese word processing.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract by Hong Kong Baptist University. Following the commencement of CMH and subject to the candidates satisfactory performance and the decision of CMH subsequent appointment will be offered directly by CMH.

Work location: Kowloon Tong Campus and will be moved to The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong in Tseung Kwan O when close to commissioning.
