The Challenge

The arable sector is a strongly changing environment driven by increasing pressure from legislation changing consumer preferences societal pressure and requirements from food chain partners focused on food safety and environmental impact. The combination of an increasingly extensive rotation scheme and reduction of synthetic products leads to uncertainty about the revenue of growers and supply uncertainty for chain partners.

Agrifirm is supporting growers in their economic and ecological transition by investing in solutions that counteract cultivation issues (such as abiotic climate stress or disease pressure) while maintaining measurable quantity and quality with reduced environmental impact.

Regenerative cultivation methods provide different opportunities to farmers to deal with climate extremes comply to stricter legislation and be an attractive partner for food chain partners focusing on soil health reduced climate impact water quality and biodiversity.

Job description
An important aspect of applying regenerative agriculture practices is to understand the financial implications and a previous project a first version financial model is developed for this purpose. The goal of the current assignment is to further design the financial model for implementation of regenerative practices at the farm.

You will work in the team R&D Plant Based Solutions in close collaboration with our business partners. Your workplace is flexible we work from home and our headquartersin Apeldoorn. The program manager Healthy Soil is your supervisor.

Tasks and responsibilities

Relevant topics in which you either support or work independently are:

  • Analysis of existing financial data and models
  • Defining a process to develop the model to the next version
  • Creation of the financial model to support farmers in decision making

What is on your cv

  • MSc student in plant soil or agriculture with a strong affinity for farming economics.
  • Positive attitude and/or experience in (organic / regenerative) agriculture
  • You are fluent in Dutch
  • English in speaking and writing
  • Excellent communicator / networker
  • Experience with Excel
  • Preferably experience in PowerBi for prototyping
