Toast is looking for a Tech Lead (Staff) Full stack Engineer to join our new Upsells platform team in Dublin. This team is creating a new platform within Toast for smart upsell suggestions using Generative AI models and agents. This platform helps staff in real time with upsell suggestions and approaches and helps restaurant owners managers and other roles to create and manage high quality upsell suggestions using our generative AI tools.

Partnering with stakeholders product managers product designers and other engineers you will be part of a team developing best-in-class solutions that create a unified seamless experience that meets our standard for customer delight ease of use security and scalability.

About this roll* (Responsibilities)

  • Lead a team of talented engineers technically - working collaboratively with UX PM QA and other engineers building web applications using modern web technologies
  • Define best practices and help choose technologies to evolve our current tech stack while writing world-class applications
  • Championing best practices such as quality integration and unit testing
  • Provide design feedback and participate in code reviews to ensure implementations meet requirements
  • Ensure that all work done by the team is delivered with quality and is appropriately monitored and supported in production
  • Leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow improve velocity and help pioneer new approaches to building - contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team.
  • Mentor other team members

Do you have the right ingredients* (Requirements)

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in Java or Kotlin
  • Must have hands on experience with JavaScript/Typescript (We use React)
  • Must have experience at staff/tech lead level leading large scale technical projects
  • Excellent cross-team communication skills on complex technical topics
  • Proficient with NoSQL and traditional databases
  • Experience with modern web standards and technologies (e.g. React Typescript)
  • Proficient in Software Development best practices (Code Quality UnitTest BDD)
  • Experience delivering high quality reliable services to production
  • Experience building android applications with Kotlin is a plus
  • Passionate about building great software
  • Prior experience with distributed systems enterprise messaging systems or microservices is a plus

**This is a hybrid role requiring two days per week in the Dublin office**
