Job Description
Please note: This role is contingent upon a contract award. While it is not an immediate opening we are actively conducting interviews and extending offers in anticipation of the award.
ICF is seeking a Junior Databricks Engineer to support a major data migration initiative with the Department of Transportation. This project involves transitioning from a legacy Oracle-based system to a modern data analytics platform integrating dozens of data sources and thousands of reports. The role is critical to ensuring successful migration pipeline development and data governance implementation.
Job Location: This is a remote position but all work must be performed within the United States.
What youll be doing:
Support the migration of data from legacy Oracle systems to Databricks.
Develop and maintain ETL pipelines using Spark Python and SQL.
Assist in setting up and managing Unity Catalog for data governance.
Perform QA and validation of migrated datasets and reports.
Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure smooth integration and performance.
Report to the Senior Data Engineer and contribute to cross-functional team efforts.
What you must have:
Bachelors degree in computer science Information Systems Analytics or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience working with Databricks Spark Python SQL or Unity Catalog.
Strong understanding of data engineering best practices.
Experience working in Agile environments.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced deadline-driven setting.
Must be eligible for federal clearance and pass a background check.
What wed like you to have (preferred):
Experience with Oracle databases and Oracle Business Intelligence.
Familiarity with government data systems and compliance requirements.
Exposure to large-scale data migration projects.
Understanding of Agile techniques such as User Stories TDD BDD CI/CD and automated testing.
